Q22 How does God intervene in their planned siege and attack on the Holy City?
And fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. Revelation 20:9
Q23 What event takes place before they are devoured by the fire from heaven?
And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away, and I saw the dead small and great, stand before God and the books were opened and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works. Revelation 20:12
And they were judged every man according to his works. Revelation 20:13
Q24 As they stand before God what are they left no choice but to admit?
At the name of Jesus every knee should bow … and that every tongue should confess the Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:10,11.
NOTE: This is not a time of confession and repentance that will lead to universal salvation but rather an acknowledgement that the God they have rejected, derided, and blasphemed is indeed the true and living Creator God of all. This acknowledgement will vindicate God forever before the angels that did not fall ,and before the righteous who had heard God’s character being maligned, for since Satan’s first deception it is the character of God that has been questioned. He began in Eden by asking in order to deceive, Hath God said…? Since then God has been blamed for all the evil in the universe and when Christ came to earth He was a crucified on a tree of His own Creation and killed by the hosts of Satan working through human beings. In these immense final events God is thoroughly vindicated and all can see that He is the true God alone, holy and righteous, fair and right in all that He does, and is worthy of worship and honour. Now it can be seen and admitted by all, that Satan has been an impostor with nothing to commend Him. The God of the universe has been entirely transparent in His dealings and all is revealed, that Satan has been only a deceiver for his own ends—wishing to be as God to build an alternative kingdom.
Q25 How does God now take the judgement into His own hands to destroy everything that is evil?
To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. Jude 1:15
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15
Q26 How does this accord with Jesus own words while He was on earth?
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Matthew 13:30
Q27 What does the Bible reveal about these whipped up fires?
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. Psalms 11:6
NOTE: God poured fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot’s wife was killed by turning to look at it. Both those cities were destroyed and reduced to ash and rubble in a very short time, such was the power of the fire of God’s wrath. This account was recorded in the Bible to show that God can and will do this again, to make an end of everything evil. Nothing evil can remain alive in the presence of this divine devouring fire.
The breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it. Is 30:33
But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Luke 17:29 |
