Q15 For what purpose is the Holy Spirit given to our world?
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. John 16:8
NOTE: Jesus had had very close contact with people in the Holy Land, but He could not be everywhere at the same time. When He returned to heaven He asked the Father to send another Comforter to take His place, who could be with all of us, at the same time. His duty is to tell us what we are doing wrong, and to point us to a better way. But He is also come to impress upon us that there is a judgement to determine who will be the citizens of the new world that God is going to make at the end of the problem of good and evil.
Q16 What is another vital work of the Holy Spirit in a world of religious confusion?
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth. John 16:13
Q17 What did Jesus say about His plans for the future?
Behold I make all things new. Revelation 21:5
NOTE: Prophecy, and especially the books of Daniel and Revelation reveal that God will make an end of evil. This gives us a living hope, a realistic purpose for a clean life, and encourages us to stand firm. This is the motivation we need to live and work for God. Evil will not go on for ever.
Q18 How can we know and be sure of all the important things that are in the Bible?
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things. John 14:26
Q19 What practical instruction does God give us about avoiding evil?
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:17, 18. |
