What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19,20.
NOTE: If we care for our bodies, we are caring for our health. The temple of the Spirit of God needs to be kept with meticulous and intelligent care. In this way we can know the will of God for us. We are able to discern, to prove, and to follow the will of God so that our lives are changed from carnal beings to people who reflect the character of God here and now in this world. God has given us the care of our bodies so that the Holy Spirit can live in us and to help us become new people. If we can say a firm ‘no’ to the shoutings of the flesh, not making our belly our god, then we have learned to deny ourselves, and as active servants and helpers of Christ, we take up Christ’s cross to follow Him.

God places in us the desire to live better lives but by ourselves we cannot make any changes. God has offered us many kinds of help. Promises that are full of power, commandments to change our lives and bring us peace, teachings about bodies, the gift of the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit, prophecy and the whole armour of God. God always begins with our hearts. He does not work with the symptoms of our trouble. He prompts us about the judgement that we all will face, but shows us good things to come to encourage us and give us hope. God’s aim is that we shall be like Jesus in this world and bring Him honour.
