NOTE: The word used refers to the Valley of Gehenna where the rubbish of Jerusalem was thrown out to be burned. It burned until the rubbish was reduced to ashes and consumed by the fire. It is not burning today so it was not an ‘eternal burning’ in the sense of never ending. The fires at the end of the thousand years will also have an end.
